Groundworks Landscaping Inc. was established in 2002 by three individuals with unique talents: Kim Hren, Linda Silich, and Andy Silich. The synergy of their skills and expertise has made this trio distinctive and successful. Collectively, they have many years of experience in the field and professional backgrounds that ensure the process runs smoothly and stays within budget.
Every successful landscape project begins with a well-thought-out plan in partnership with the client. We create landscape designs in-house using advanced software and our extensive knowledge of plant materials. We present detailed layouts and renderings for approval before proceeding with installation. Groundworks also collaborates with renowned landscape architects like Edmund Hollander Design, Inc.
Our team specializes in designing and installing landscapes for properties throughout the Hamptons and Eastern Long Island, from the North Shore to Montauk. Our designs complement a wide range of architectural styles and aesthetics. We have extensive experience working with properties of varying sizes and addressing unique challenges, from small village yards to 100-acre estates. We focus on building long-term relationships with clients by continuing to offer our services even after a project is installed.

A History in the Community
2002 | Groundworks Landscaping Inc. was established in 2002 as a new landscape design and installation company in the Hamptons by Kim Hren, Linda Silich, and Andy Silich. They operated from a small office in East Hampton, NY, and were renowned for installing designs created by notable landscape architects as well as their own.
2008 | Groundworks adds a new landscape maintenance division to their existing services in the Hamptons for both new and existing clients.
2013 | Groundworks acquires the location of Hrens Nursery at 530 Montauk Highway in East Hampton and reopens the retail operation, which was originally established by Kim Hren’s family. Hrens Nursery was founded in 1939 by Kim's grandfather, Joseph A. Hren Sr., and later run by her father, Joseph A. Hren Jr.
2018 | Groundworks enjoyed five successful years as a Garden Center, hosting several community events such as the Trail of Terror, Fall Festivals, and a Holiday Christmas Village. However, after careful consideration, they decided to close the garden center and focus on their original venture - a leading landscape design and installation company in the Hamptons, which also has a flourishing landscape maintenance division.
TODAY | Groundworks headquarters remains at 530 Montauk Highway in East Hampton. The original building, built in 1939, now includes a landscape design showroom and a tribute to the historic Hren operation. We are no longer a garden center, but we encourage the public and clients alike to visit the showroom, stroll the grounds, and enjoy our peaceful koi pond. Community events are held on the grounds from time to time — please join our MAILING LIST to be the first to know when the next event is held.
